The Seasons

It came from the north,  and settled to stay.
Killed was the blue,  and smothered in grey.
Slain was the green,  and buried in white.
Diminished was day,  as it gave way to night.

A breeze from the east  helped open each leaf.
Fragmented grey  revealed blue beneath.
White warmed away  to pale green below;
Gloomy hues away  at dawn's early glow.

Summoned from the south,  greater growth ensues.
Blues became warmed  by glowing golden hues.
Deeper grew the greens  that on the leaves lay.
Diminished was the dark  which gave way to day.

Westerly winds wafted  glowing golden haze.
Fading greens were going  to flaming reds ablaze.
Blues became subdued  with hints of grey to be.
The cycle came full circle,  as in years yet to be.
