You enter into the world of dreaming
Where worlds surreal are real in seeming,
And shadows vast above you looming
Coalesce in terrible forms assuming.
And soul-freezing chills are blowing you being
Through web-laced halls you spirit a-fleeing,
And menacing presences your being pursuing
Are promising painful oblivion ensuing.
Hence, they have you, trapped a-pleading
For mercy while they laugh unheeding
Till, wrenched by mortal terror dying,
You waken in drenching sweat a-crying!
