This volume contains 145 words of Wyandot collected by Col. John Johnston in 1819. Johnston was an Indian agent and "beloved friend" who was associated with the Wyandot and Shawnee tribes in Ohio for over 50 years. The volume also includes a smaller sample of about 40 Wyandot words collected by Benjamin Smith Barton in the late 18th century and several other smaller word lists.
